At each New Year it is common for people to make new "resolutions," but in the life of the individual, each day is the beginning of a New Year, if he will only commit himself every morning to make it so.

One new year's date on the calendar does not divide time any more than one particular grain of sand divides the desert, or the beach from the ocean.

Comment:  As Christians we have the "blessed hope." The meaning of our lives is found in Jesus Christ.  The unsaved world does not have this comfort, that is why they celebrate each "special event." Its because they must be satisfied with one grain of sand at a time; they do not trust in the God who holds all of the sands of time in one hand.
