<![CDATA[President of AG Deaf Ministry, NF (National Deaf Culture Fellowship) Resigns for Health Reasons]]>Fri, 02 Dec 2011 21:47:53 GMThttp://www.phillydeaf.com/5/post/2011/12/president-of-ag-deaf-ministry-nf-national-deaf-culture-fellowship-resigns-for-health-reasons.html_Wonderful Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ

Hope all is well with you and blessing continue flow through you and your family. I
recently had my MRI and two doctors appointments. They have shared their concern about
my brain. They are not sure if the radiation has caused two spots or if it is truly reoccurring
tumors. They want me to come back in six weeks for more check up, etc.
I’ve been praying and seeking the Lord’s guidance for clarification. I believe it time
for me to step down and resign from NF President due to my health, even though, I truly
believe I’m made whole through the blood of Christ!
I appreciate Rev. Belinda McCleese taking over, as NF President and know she will do a
wonderful job. Please pray for her.
I want to say thank you all for your prayer, cards and many encouragement. Janie
and I love you.

God bless you abundantly

Rev. Jimmy Schwyhart

<![CDATA[Arlene Shader's Eeternal Resurrection]]>Tue, 29 Nov 2011 15:27:20 GMThttp://www.phillydeaf.com/5/post/2011/11/arlene-shaders-eeternal-resurrection.htmlPicture
_ Announcing the eternal resurrection of our Sister in Christ, Arlene Shader

Arlene Shader passed away at approximately 6:00 pm on Monday (11/28).

Arlene Shader: 79, was born in Drexel Hill/Upper Darby. (Delaware County Memorial Hospital) and died in Kindred Hospital, Havertown, PA. Before being moved to several healthcare facilities, she resided in Havertown, PA. Her husband, Alan M. Shader, preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons: Steven D. Shader and Alan W. Shader.

As Arlene's Pastor, I offer this prayer for the family:

Loving God, all hearts are open to you, all desires are known, and no secret is hidden. I come to you in prayer because you have already come to us first. When you seem so far away, I know you are closer than any person could be, even closer than my own breath, because you, by your holy spirit, are resident in my inner-most being. I pray for the Shader and Bishop families, asking that you would give them peace and a 'blessed hope' at this time of weeping. May their be forged in the eternal promises you have made to each one who, like Arlene, has put their trust in your Son, Jesus Christ. Help each one understand your priorities for us more clearly: Loving God, Living for Jesus Christ, and loving our family and friends more consistently. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen!

Cards of sympathy and support can be sent to: Steve Shader, 140 E Benedict Avenue, Havertown, PA 19083-2404

Details of the funeral arrangements will be emailed and posted on the www.phillydeaf.com website when they are finalized. At that time, we'll also give the address where flowers and/or donations can be sent.

Sincerely,

David Robb
Care Pastor

<![CDATA[October 2011 Philly Deaf Honor Bound Men\\\'s Meeting]]>Sat, 15 Oct 2011 20:47:34 GMThttp://www.phillydeaf.com/5/post/2011/10/october-2011-philly-deaf-honor-bound-deaf-mens-meeting.html Picture
The October Honor Bound men's meeting was small, but extremely helpful to each of the five of us (Pastor David is behind the camera). We spent about an hour playing indoor football at the church gym, then traveled to a local restaurant to eat and talk about the Apostle Paul's understanding of the difference between Salvation and Holiness, or Justification and Sanctification. It was a time for us to discuss our struggles and advise through the Bible and offer prayer for one another. Thanks, guys, for making my life richer with our time together.

Remember, our November meeting is cancelled due to the Philly Deaf Care Leader's meeting that will take place the same weekend. Antoine and Pastor David will be away.

<![CDATA[Local Effects of the Hurricane on some Deaf friends]]>Sun, 28 Aug 2011 16:24:54 GMThttp://www.phillydeaf.com/5/post/2011/08/local-effects-of-the-hurricane-on-some-deaf-friends.html

Even though the storm is gone, we are still cancelled for tonight for the following reasons.

1. No Power: Irene might be gone, but it sunk the region underwater, caused widespread damage, and left half a million people without power. Peco is reporting 297,000 out of power. PSE&G is reporting 230,000 customers without power. Atlantic City Electric is reporting 83,960 without power. That's a total of 597,285, and still doesn't include customers covered by several other utilities. And it could be a while before some see it turned back on. 2. No Transportation: Septa is still not running. Philadelphia International Airport remains closed. 3. Flooding Still Possible: Most of the forecast high winds never materialized. But, as of this morning, the most serious result of the storm was flood water, rising alarmingly fast. The Schuylkill River, at more than 12 feet, was overflowing its banks. It's set to crest at more than 15 feet by 2 p.m. with major flooding expected. The attendance would likely be very low. We are still not sure of where flooding will happen today, or how the overflowing rivers will effect South Philadelphia driving and roadways, we’ll leave the service cancellation in effect and will look forward to seeing everyone next week on Sunday; back in the Lord’s house. Please let us know if you have had any damage or flooding in your home or area; we’ll post that information on the PD News Blog. Send a picture if you can. Pastor David Philly Deaf ministries

Thank u for sharing the information. My area is all right and power is on but no internet access, I would choose power over internet.. Stay safe..

God bless u n your family.

Art Bond

<![CDATA[Philly Deaf Christmas Dinner....Very Nice, Indeed!]]>Mon, 06 Dec 2010 19:16:55 GMThttp://www.phillydeaf.com/5/post/2010/12/philly-deaf-christmas-dinnervery-nice-indeed.htmlThe Philly Deaf 2010 Christmas Dinner turned out to be a very nice time together. Almost 40 people in attendance, and a good showing of children, we celebrated the fellowship of the body of Christ with some delicious foods brought by many who attended. Thank you Grace Bishop for your excellent cooking skills of the turkey. Some of the foods that were brought should be in a cookbook to be shared with the world...they were that good! A very merry Christmas. Hope to see you all for the one-hour Christmas Eve candlelight service from 6 - 7 pm on December 24th. Below are a few pictures from the dinner.

The annual Philly Deaf Christmas dinner has traditionally been on a Saturday evening, The dinner for this year, has been planned for December 4th since the Care Leader's retreat at the end of 2009. However, we're also aware that other Deaf ministries in the Delaware Valley have planned their Christmas for this same date.

Therefore, in order to avoid a scheduling conflict, Philly Deaf is moving their Christmas dinner from Saturday the 4th, to Sunday evening, December 5th; beginning at 6:30 pm

The meal planning has already begun. Philly Deaf will be providing the Turkey and drinks for this special meal together. We're asking for others to sign up for Entree dishes and desserts. A list will be circulated at the Philly Deaf service, and others who plan to attend can bring a dish with them to share.

Although no child care is provided for this dinner event, we encourage all families to attend with their children. The last Christmas dinner included a Christmas trivia game and a prize. Hmmmm...what will be do this year???? Come and See
